Environmental Responsibility
Tyco Security Products believes that we have a responsibility to our customers, to the communities where we
work, and where we do business globally – to ensure that our manufacturing process is environmentally
responsible and our products are environmentally sound.
As a result, we are committed to ensuring that our products adhere to all global environmental standards and legislation. In the
absence of a set of universal standards, we work with the governing bodies across the globe to ensure that our operations meet or
exceed the requirements for each market.
The European Union was among the first to have established and approved standards called RoHS (Restriction of
Hazardous Substances). A RoHS label on a package indicates the products within the package comply with new
manufacturing standards designed to reduce or eliminate the use of the following 6 substances.
1. Lead
2. Mercury
3. Cadmium
4. Hexavalent chromium
5. Polybrominated biphenyls
6. Polybrominated diphenyl ether
Tyco Security Products took a leading role in achieving RoHS compliance by eliminating identified
environmentally unfriendly compounds from the manufacturing process. We are pleased to say that our product
offering to Europe is RoHS compliant as a result. In fact, IPC Association Connecting Electronics Industries®
awarded certification to Tyco's DSC brand for Lead Free Electronics Assembly Process Capability Program – one
of the first manufacturers to receive it.
In addition, our commitment to offering environmentally responsible products also extends to our customers in
other parts of the world. To this end, we have succeeded in converting a larger portion of our portfolio and
we will continue to monitor emerging environmental initiatives around the world as they are established.
Tyco Security Products is committed to bringing reliable, environmentally responsible and quality products to
our customers around the globe – for today and for our future.
